Project Name: Human Genetic Research Centre
Architect Name: Sangeet Sharma
Client: Vice Chancellor, Jammu University
Project Cost: Rs 3 Crores
A very scientific department with modern labs and facilities comprises this building. The concept was to give a look and feel of the very generic of this research, and therefore a very appealing porch that also represented the genetic lines was envisaged. The design has movements all across. Offices and classrooms are all bound together by an open courtyard in the centre. On the right is the open air theatre on the first floor which has approach from the ground floor and from within the building. Considering various factors of a green building many concepts of “Green” have been incorporated like terrace gardens, rain harvesting systems, natural ventilation shafts, energy saving electrical fittings, and water saving fixtures are a part of this design.
